Arguably, capitalism has stomped on rosé’s reputation. When you remove the marketing, fads and quick money grabs, rosé winemaking is quite an intriguing artform. Done well, and you can bridge the worlds between red and white wine, suspending belief that you can, finally, have the best of both. Traditionally, it’s white wine winemaking with red wine grapes, but there are no rules for rosé – it’s just a term given to pink wine, or something that is not-quite-red. For a winemaker with a little imagination, there’s lots of fun to be had here.
At Sometimes Always, we focus more on a holistic approach to the value of a wine. Does it taste good? Is the producer a legend? Does it have a good story? Do you want to drink it again? Was it worth your time and money? We like to think we have navigated the politics of the industry and smoke and mirrors of trends, fads and hype to bring you a range of wines that we think taste good, from a legendary producer that has a good story that you’ll want to drink again and are worth your time and money.
