Pierre Morey

A Meursault Love Story
The Pierre Morey legacy stretches much further back past the day he began tending to his own vines. It truly began years earlier when his great-grandfather fell in love with his great-grandmother, and Meursault. Pierre would later grow up there and similar to his grandfather, fall in love with winemaking. While part of his journey can be attributed to the small portion of a Burgundy vineyard gifted to him by his grandfather (alongside 30 other grandchildren), there is plenty more to discover in how his wines came to be some of the most celebrated in the world.
A Master of Burgundy Viticulture
Pierre didn’t just run a vineyard—he lived and breathed wine, and simultaneously curated two other careers alongside his own production in the 80s. Pierre worked with other winegrowers across Burgundy and took over operations for the great Domaine Leflaive estate.
Domaine Leflaive is known to be the master of Chardonnay in the region, which can be imagined to be (partial) reasoning for Pierre to later became known for producing some of the most celebrated white wines in the region.
White wines are the crown of Burgundy vineyards. They reign supreme as the benchmark of quality. Elegant, nuanced, and something Pierre Morey was no stranger to excelling at. But when it came to the red varieties, Pierre left those to his daughter Anne to hone in on the expertise of creating Pinot Noir.

Her studies led the estate to become a master of the red varieties as well, and put their name on the map for producing some of the best cuvées in the world.
Anne further led the estate into biodynamic farming, progressing the quality of Pierre Morey wines, as if that was even imagined to be possible. Vinified and matured in oak barrels, these wines are fine, structured and so flavourful, they only get better with age.
These cuvées are a reflection of purity and the limestone-rich soil of Burgundy, which continues to enhance the respect for Pierre Morey in Mersault, its surrounding villages, and the world. Getting hands on cuvées like these are a promise to witness the enrichment of what lies inside them.
