Why we love this Wine
Claudio and Mariagrazia Icardi run the estate now, continuing what their father Pierino started back in the early '60s on the Asti-Alba border — organic farming before it was fashionable, biodynamic where it counts, vines left to their own rhythms (weeds and wildflowers included).
100% Nebbiolo, hand-picked off south-east facing calcareous clay, fermented on skins in steel for a fortnight, then three years in new barrique and tonneaux — a modern hand on an ancient grape. Cherry, spice, a savoury tar streak underneath, tannins polished rather than rustic (this one's dressed up, not dug in).
