The 2017 will go down as one of the greatest vintages of this iconic Australian wine. Tim Kirk’s much admired, flagship Shiraz Viognier is an Australian benchmark for good reason. The fruit purity and detail here is a sight to behold with gorgeous dark berry and plum fruits built on a framework of deep spice, roasting meats, turned earth and flitting notes of white pepper, violets, dark chocolate and anise. It’s a seamless wine with tight ripe tannin that seems to melt away into the fruit. If you can keep your hands off it it will live for decades. A stunner.
