“From the very special Mount Bera Vineyard in Gumeracha, Adelaide Hills. The Hidden Valley block sits on a steep, north-east-facing slope of red clay and limestone, farmed biodynamically with attentive shoot thinning and no irrigation for four years, producing highly concentrated MV6 Pinot Noir bunches.
I left the wine in French barrique for 12 months élevage, followed by another 15 months in bottle, so I could release it at its optimum drinking state. It’s a wine I’m really excited about because I took my time with it and let the site and grape variety speak.”

“Daniel Bouland has always been an inspiration. I met him in 2016 at City Wine Shop in Melbourne, where I was working as a sommelier at the time, and we connected then. A really humble, hard-working man who crafts some of the most esoteric and profound Gamay in Beaujolais.
I went on to visit him in Villié-Morgon in 2017 to dig deeper into his knowledge and viticultural practices. He makes a subtle style of Gamay—concentrated but elegant at the same time, with that touch of austerity I love.”

“Timo’s wines were two of the Pinot Noirs that Eric and I sat up all night drinking at The Melbourne Supper Club the eve before we got married. Having flown into Melbourne from Europe, in the early hours of January 2008, Mayer’s Pinot Noir from the “Bloody Hill” vineyard was enthusiastically drunk that evening and brings back fond memories.
The wine was light, perfumed, vibrant with a savoury spice. A great wine to have enjoyed before a swim down at St Kilda and a quick trip to the Old Treasury Building.”
