Koerner Wine
The New Clare
Is there such a thing as ‘The New Clare’? These are the sort of questions that keep us awake at night. One thing is for sure…. Damon & Jono…. The Brothers Koerner have become one of the leading lights for contemporary wines from the region and beyond with their thoughtful renditions of grape varieties, classic and alternative.
The wines are savoury and pure, with an inherent drinkability that makes them instantly endearing to those that seek wines at the lo-fi end of the vinous spectrum. A fleeting glance at the wine's names hints at what you can expect.
Playfulness and Innovation
There’s classic Clare Valley subregionality - The Watervale Riesling; a blend of vineyards across the famous sub-region… then a drill down into the intricacies within the Watervale sub-region itself with the single vineyard Riesling offerings - Gullyview, Grace and Parish.
Other names suggest European sensibilities - Koerner Cannonau Grenache, Rolle Vermentino, Cot Malbec, Nielluccio Sangiovese, Mammolo Sciaccarello….get the drift?
Red blends such as The Vivian, Classico, La Corse and The Clare complete the picture and focus on varietal diversity and the art of composition.
The winemaking is thoughtful and has a sense of playfulness and innovation while respecting the intricacies of place.

You’ll find a smattering of skin contact and the tweak of phenolics, large format seasoned oak, amphoras and ceramics for fermentation. You’ll find classic Clare Riesling cut and focus but you’ll also find the interplay of fruit and skin. And that’s what we dig.
