François Rousset-Martin

PURITY & PRECISION
Tucked away in a corner of the limestone-lined Jura cliffsides lies the village of Nevy-sure-Seille where Francois Rousset-Martin is producing some of the most complex, unique and sought-after bottles of this region. These wines are not only packed with fresh character (with no fining, filtering, and minimal sulphur), they are also some of the most elegant and thought-provoking Alpine wines around.
ELECTRIFYING FLAVOURS OF JURA
François knows wine—born in Burgundy, he was raised by a microbiologist working in the legendary Hospices de Beaune and spent weekends in Jura on their family vineyard. Working this vineyard was his grandfather, who passed down cherished stories of winemaking on these gentle slopes that stuck with him throughout his adulthood and led him to take over the family vineyard in 2006.
By 2018, he stopped selling fruit to the local co-op and began vinifying everything himself. Rather than following traditional procedures of the vineyards also within the famed Château Chalon appellation, he moved forward reflecting his own style of topped-up (ouillé) whites that shine with purity and precision, now labelled Côtes du Jura.

Winemaking in the Jura stretches back centuries and has become coveted for its fastidious tradition. Yet François Rousset-Martin breaks the regional rules, using methods once unthinkable within the famed Château Chalon appellation.
Here, you won’t find the traditional, oxidative styles you’ve come to expect from Jura, but something snappier and electrifying. Whites that are lean, tense and textured, and reds that are delicate, light and lifted. There’s a kind of vibrating clarity that makes these wines hard to put down, making us wonder whether all the fanfare and fuss over tradition is worth it.
Wines you're not likely to soon forget, but opportunities to add these bottles to your collection are few and far between. Here today, gone tomorrow.
