Sit up straight for this one. Serious, heavy hitting Barbaresco, still a little rough-hewn in its relative youth, but deepening and expressing itself further with time in the bottle. Deep, dark fruits and rich leather. Spicy eucalypt and pepper. 2021 was a vintage of superb concentration, and Montestefano draws from a legendary site with dense clay soils. Fruit is macerated on skins before doing time in large format oak. This is all old-school Italian elegance.
