“Sicily is a place that captured my heart years ago when I was there on holiday before doing a vintage elsewhere in Italy. I came for the food and stayed for the wine—infatuated with all of the native varieties and the renaissance the regions were having.

At 26, Sam Berketta stepped into Alpha Box & Dice and got straight to work shaping the Alphabet of Wine—each ‘letter’ its own focused project, built around a variety, a site, or a winemaking idea.
He’d already done the rounds—Barolo, Germany, the US—before landing back in South Australia, bringing a mix of old-world patience and new-world freedom with him. Not one to sit still, the wines tend to follow suit—always evolving, but always gone too soon.
