Samantha is a Wine Consultant, Communicator and Sommelier, and is known for her speciality in Australian wine. Samantha has travelled extensively both locally and globally to discuss the Australian wine and food landscape and, throughout her career, interviewed winemakers in wine regions all over the world.

Samantha regularly writes about wine, spirits, food and travel, as the drinks columnist for Gourmet Traveller. Her work also features in Concrete Playground (SYD), Broadsheet, Decanter (UK), Conde Nast Traveller (USA), and she hosts The Guardian channel 'How to Drink Wine with Samantha' alongside her regular features on The Guardian Australia.

Nuance of Australian Wine

Very few other places in the wine-growing world have the freedom to grow grapes and develop wine styles the way we do here in Aus. We're not constricted by AOC's or IGT's (appellation controls) – and that allows us an extensive range for innovation. That's what this selection is all about – A celebration of Aussie wine and what makes it so exciting. From different varieties to regions you may have overlooked, classic grapes with a bit of a spin on them or taking a historical site and expressing it in a new way; this is Australian wine in all its exciting and remarkable glory. I always knew early into my career in wine/drinks that I would focus my studies and experience around Australian wines to celebrate what was on my back doorstep. The one thing that has always stood out to me over my years of being a Sommelier and now a Consultant and Drinks Communicator – is the nuance of Australian wine and our wine-growing regions.
