Warramate sits right next door to Yarra Yering, planted in 1970, a year after Bailey Carrodus got his own vines in the ground — and since 2011 the two properties have shared a cellar, a vigneron and a vision. Sarah Crowe makes this the same way she makes the big wine, just dialled for drinking young. Four pinot clones, fermented in separate parcels with their own whole-bunch percentages. Red cherry, pomegranate, dried herb, a savoury edge creeping in late. Elite DNA.
