Chile's Maipo Valley is known by some as the 'Bordeaux of South America', celebrated for potent, mouth-watering red varieties, ie. this tantalising Carménère. Richest cherry red burgundy, with tobacco, chocolate and coffee. Cashmere soft tannin and great heft. Ex-Penfolds winemaker John Duval has been consulted by Viña Ventisquero at times, and we definitely see stylistic similarities, lovers of a bold red form an orderly queue.
