Thomas Wines’ Synergy pulls together old-vine Hunter Valley Shiraz from McKelvey, blended along with 'declassified' barrels from Pokolbin Estate and Sweetwater Ridge. These are the barrels that remain following the creation of their single vineyard range, and while they may not have made the single vineyard 'first string', the balance achieved through blending is a thing of beauty. The dry, early 2024 vintage delivered small yields and serious quality. Cold-soaked, fermented in stainless, then raised 15 months in French hogsheads, this is Shiraz of poise and polish with depth, freshness and quiet confidence. Unreal value.
