Lacrima means tear — the grape is named for the way it seems to weep when fully ripe — and this one from Tenuta San Marcello in the Marche hills plays that reputation for drama to the hilt. Organically farmed on clay above Morro d'Alba, hand-picked, pressed within the hour, cold-soaked before a spontaneous ferment. Rose petal and violet, blackberry and dark cherry underneath, tannin so soft they nearly disappear. More perfume than punch. A wine that leads with its nose.
