Why we love this Wine
Few names loom so large in Burgundy as Sylvain Pataille, and what a rush each time we land mitts on one of his limited allocations. The Marsannay-born oenologist turned vigneron is a champion of Aligoté; shy sister to the better-known Burgundian white. The Champ Forey vineyard boasts Aligoté vines planted between 1932 and 1961, and vinified traditionally, the unmistakable yellow tint sparks joy big time. Fresh apple aroma leads, but the nose has a whole lot of complexity owed to time in toasted casks. Endless depth and energy.
