Why we love this Wine
Ray Chen's wine CV was an impressive one, with expertise spanning NZ, France and the US, even before she founded Rongo. That can be disregarded now: the wines speak strongly for themselves. Small batch crafted, with locally sourced, sustainably farmed fruit and minimal intervention approaches. The Aglianico comes from Chalmers' Merbein vineyard, packing in all the red berries, Turkish delight and black olives. Juicy and confident, with tannin in the background. A dream with Asian leaning meats; think 5-Spice Duck Pancakes or Beefy Char Kway Teow.
