Why we love this Wine
From Mâconnais, southern Burgundy, home of so many favourite treats. Pink-cheeked Pinot Noir, sitting up straight with lovely structure in the mouth and very wide-awake acid. Silky tannin. Layers of warm spice, nutmeg and orange. Christmas stuffing of mushrooms, chestnuts, cranberries and red cherries. Olivier Merlin has been making his stamp in Mâconnais since the late eighties, and there'd be few who know the region's quirks so well. Drink now, or maybe tomorrow.
