Up on Mount Barker, Erinn Klein has been coaxing some of the Hills’ most alive and expressive wines from his certified organic vineyards. The Pet Nat is his loosest, most joyful thing. A blend of Pinot Noir, Syrah, Semillon and Viognier from three sites, bottled mid-ferment and left to sort itself out. Unfined, unfiltered, no preservatives, as direct from vine to glass as it gets. Exotic flowers, musk, pithy grapefruit, blood orange, peaches — lightly fizzy, dry, textured finish—the wine equivalent of a long Friday afternoon.
