Why we love this interesting drink
Genepy was mountain medicine before it was a nightcap. Alpine herders and climbers infusing medicinal herbs into spirit to stave off the cold for centuries, the plant was so prized it was declared protected in 1928 and has been protected ever since. La Valdotaine has been distilling in Verrès, deep in the Aosta Valley, since 1947. Macerated from real Artemisia genepi, gathered above 2000 metres, expect pine resin, crushed herbs and a bittersweet alpine chill, served straight from the freezer in sauna with your crazy uncle. Less a liqueur, more an aprés ski in liquid form.
