Why we love this Wine
Hervé Souhaut has been crafting wines under his label Domaine Romaneaux-Destezet since 1993. Huge wine-making chops (the guy loves whole bunches and semi-carbonic maceration). And seriously coveted ancient vines to draw grapes from, think southern/southeastern exposed sites abutting the tiny town of Arlebosc in Northern Ardeche (France). This 60% Viognier, 40% Roussanne blend typifies his style: focused extraction and aging on fine lees = oodles of complexity. White blossom and tropical fruit on the nose, touch of oak. Palate of minerals and orchard fruit, also of lightning crash and dolphin cry.
