Paul Chisea is a relative newcomer to Mount Gambier's growing scene, but this fruit from Yahl Estate is second-to-none. The limestone beds and volcanic soils make for a running start in any vineyard. And it's the one-time ash cloud above that this wine celebrates. Namely its profound impact on Pinot Noir, here a grape that crunches with natural acidity and basks in its own texture. Cranberry and strawberry play on the palate. Light but expressive, this is great stuff to get around.
