A 'Forest Flower' just coming into full bloom, the 2021 Barbera by Giacomo Boggero has hit its sweet-spot for drinking. Floral for sure, but with great guts. There's meatiness, smokiness and earthiness, and the juicy allure of blood plums. Tannins have softened a little, but this is a phenomenally well-structured red with beautiful body and fresh acid. If you get weak at the knees just flipping to the Italian wines section, you've found your new muse.
