Why we love this Wine
Rioja, full throttle, top down. El Primero pulls fruit from three different sites—old Garnacha near Aldeanueva, bush-vine Tempranillo up high by Azagra, plus a younger Garnacha parcel for brightness. 25-30% whole bunches go into the ferments, which enjoy 3-4 days cold soak and spontanteous fermentation in open vats. Wild cherry, thyme, a flick of liquorice and warm spice. Succulent and savoury. And some older French oak in the background. Modern Rioja = dinner wine, any damn day.
