Why we love this Wine
Mondeuse is native to the Savoie region of France, a natural pick for Julien Viana, one of the region's rising stars (and a native of the region himself). Farming limestone-clay vineyards in the village of Cruet, Julien's viticulture is organic and sympathetic to nature. His approach in the winery follows a similar ethos; native yeasts, no sulphites. This Mondeuse noire is born of whole bunch maceration, fermented in stainless steel. Leaving behind something special. A smokey, red-fruited nose that deepens into jammier stewed rhubarb on the palate. Grippy and concentrated, dreamy alongside some funky cheeses.
