Two Melbourne sommeliers wandered into a derelict Macedon vineyard back in 2007 and never really left — Some years later, Liam O'Brien is still chasing fruit and vineyard purity, this time up in the elevated blocks of Alpine Valley. Exceptional elevated vineyards, low input viticulture, oak lightly, let tannins build — no fining, no fuss. Raspberry, cherry, plum, earth and a savoury hit of amaro herb, blackberry creeping in as it opens up in the glass. Presence, not just prettiness.
