Sicily’s most widely planted white grape Catarratto Bianco delivers a plethora of flavours, depending on your winemaker. Alessandro Viola’s estate grown Catarratto rises around 500-600m above sea level for 30 year old vines with a height advantage. Dodging conformity, this hits out with a full-bodied skinsy style layered in citrus and apricot, wonderfully complicated by extended maceration on skins and nine months in a big ol’ chestnut botti.
