Let's talk about Grignolino. Grignole means 'many pips' in the local Piemontese dialect. There's serious tannin to be extracted from the tiny grapes, but Piedmont's modern winemakers have mastered gentle extraction and slow pressing, drawing out fruit flavour in harmony with the bracing acid and tannin. Seen stunningly here: this is a dreamy medium-bodied red from Piedmont, replete with red fruits and scented of rose petals. Dry on the finish, perfectly balanced, something magical.
