The wizard of Waverley Vineyard, Ricky Evans has done it again. Pure class, this is Chardonnay at its most precisely poised, a tightrope balance between alluring fruit and bitter, nutty notes. Aromatic stonefruit, slightly medicinal lemon, almond nougat. The lees bring doughy, toasted perfume and round out the puckering citrus. Structured and fresh, this is from the cooler of Woodlawn's two Chardonnay sites, kept taut but stunningly detailed. A must try from this producer.
