Coined Halcyon Days, Brendan and Laura Carter make it clear this is a Nero that’s dark by varietal name, not by nature. This one’s grown in the iron-rich, sand and limestone soils of the Barmera Riverland, prime for delivering balanced ripeness to the Italian grape. Punchy and fresh, the Carters reckon it has a little of a Gamay feel, while blue and darker forest fruits are lifted by a tidy, salty little acid line. Chill it down mates.
