Why we love this Wine
Brendan Carter (who occasionally answers to "FianoMan") and wife Laura built the label proving Italian varieties suit Australian dirt better than the usual suspects. Fiano's the hill they've chosen to die on.
Alluvium comes off Mylkappa, the coolest and highest of their three Fiano sites — a vineyard grafted over from Sauvignon Blanc back in 2015, growing in quartz-shot alluvial clay above Birdwood. This one is lean and dry: small bunches, small berries an small quantities. What's left is concentrated — grapefruit pith and lime zest up front, a flinty, reductive whiff underneath, acid running taut rather than slack.
