Why we love this Wine
Cab Franc with one foot in the Loire, one in South Australia's limestone country. Crayères Vineyard sits on Terra Rossa (that iconic red earth) over ancient chalky formations in Wrattonbully, planted densely and low to the ground in a fashion characteristic of Saint Émilion, the medieval city at the crossroads of Bordeaux, Saintonge and Périgord. 2023 was cool and slow-moving on the Limestone Coast, suiting Cabernet Franc just fine. Mostly Cab Franc with 8% Shiraz for some flesh. Red berries, violets, tobacco spice. Medium-bodied, perfumed and composed, with that long, easy glide across the palate. Terre extraordinaire.
