Nadia Curto runs the family estate her father Marco founded, and La Foia sticks to his traditionalist playbook — long maceration on skins, hand pump-overs and punch-downs, no shortcuts here thank you very much! Fruit comes off the east-facing Arborina vineyard in La Morra, blue marl soils, then twenty-four months in big 20-30hl botti. Garnet fading to orange at the rim. Red fruit, licorice, dried herbs, a firm tannic spine that isn't going anywhere soon. A museum release, so the cellaring is sorted, you just need a glass.
