Why we love this Wine
Coda di volpe — literally "fox's tail" — named for a grape bunch that apparently reminded some ancient Campanian farmer of local wildlife. No poetry intended, just observation. That's the energy here.
Mastroberardino's spent ten generations doing the unglamorous work: after phylloxera nearly wiped out Campania's native varieties in the 1930s, Antonio Mastroberardino went looking for what was left and replanted it instead of switching to something easier. This bottle is that instinct, still running.
Coda di volpe's an old Campanian grape, used for medium-to-full-bodied whites since Roman times — think orchard fruit, white flowers, a saline edge that hints at the volcanic ground it grows in. Textured without heaviness, built to age rather than just impress on release.
Ancient grape, zero nostalgia.
