Mamete Prevostini has the touch, and the nous to take the Prevostini family's 70 year old plantings somewhere truly spectacular. Valtellina's alpine climate offers up a bounty of pure gold; Nebbiolo fruit that rivals that grown in Barolo and Barbaresco. In Alpi Retiche (Lombardy) you may hear it called Chiavennasca. Call it what you want, but get this particular example in your glass, stat— especially if you like a meaty, rich and vibrant red.
