Why we love this Wine
Pommard's got a reputation for being all fist and no finesse — Les Cras, sitting low against the Volnay border on ground the locals call "craie" (chalk), tells a different story.
Lucien Muzard farms this parcel the hard way — ploughed, debudded, de-leafed, picked by hand off vines pushing 80-plus years old, most planted back in 1922.
Grapes go in whole, never crushed. Free run and press wine blended, then aged in Burgundian oak, only 15–20% new. Blueberry and plum sit dense and concentrated, tannins fine but with real backbone, a mineral finish that lingers.
Pommard's muscle, Volnay's manners.
