Bastardo, as the Portuguese would have it. 65% fermented in demi-muids and held on skins for 90 days. Skinsy and primal, pulpy, grippy. Bastardo (or rather, Trousseau to the French) is a cousin to Pinot and Gamay, bringing brambly complexity and nutty, savoury base notes. This is a red to drink comfortably through even an Australian summer; refreshing but still packing in plenty to ponder.
