Gamay from the Sunshine State. Who would've thought? High up in Queensland's Granite Belt, where cold nights and granite soils make for surprisingly good grape-growing conditions, La Petite Mort is giving Beaujolais a run for its money. Fermented in terracotta qvevri buried underground, this Gamay skips the oak entirely. Just bright red fruit, peppery spice, a little skin-contact grip and a silky finish. Light on its feet, big on personality. Queensland's got the goods.
