La Magia farms a single contiguous block between Ragnaie and Castelnuovo dell'Abate β unusually tidy for Brunello, and unusually old, the vines pushing past forty years at 400-450m. Fabian Schwarz runs it organically, second generation, no shortcuts. Forty days on skins, thirty-six months in French oak tonneaux, a third of it new. Dark cherry, violet, black pepper, cedar and a trail of salted licorice and cocoa on the finish. Full-bodied, fine-tannined, full aging potential. The real bloody deal.
