Jim Barry winery was founded in 1959 by Jim and Nancy Barry — a family outfit that built its name on precision, then proved it travels. St Clare's the everyday flex: Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, a bit of a curious blend, but wildly popular in Clare. A complex nose of spiced plum, mulberry, black cherry, and cedar. Dusty, fine tannin framing a savoury spice. Full-bodied, a little liquorice, menthol, dark plum creeping in and keeping the whole thing honest rather than jammy. Clare's other trick.
