Why we love this Wine
Chavy treats this humble Bourgogne Blanc like an audition for everything else in the cellar. Six generations of the family have worked Puligny-Montrachet since 1820, though estate bottling only started in 1986. Jean-Louis has run the domaine since 2002 (son Paul now alongside him), building the kind of reputation where even the regional bottling gets taken seriously. Chardonnay grown a stone's throw from some of the most sought-after white terroir in Burgundy, made with the same precision Chavy applies further up the ladder. White Flowers and juicy peach up top, a chalky mineral line running underneath, acidity doing the steering. Lean, tight, built to age better than the price tag suggests.
