Why we love this Wine
Hoddles Creek doesn't do showy. Tucked into the steep, forested slopes of the Upper Yarra, the D'Anna family have been hand-harvesting this ground since the nineties — too steep for machinery, so it's picked by hand or not at all. Franco D'Anna keeps the Pinot Blanc straightforward: picked and chilled overnight, destemmed, pressed to tank, fermented warm to keep things savoury rather than tropical, then a short rest on lees before bottling without additions. Pear, apple skin, a faint waxiness, bracing acid with a swift kick into gear. Just a cool-climate white doing what it does best.
