Everyone gets obsessed over Rioja's reds and forgets the whites got there first. Pedro Peciña trained under La Rioja Alta before going out on his own, and this 100% Viura is pure old-school: fifty-year-old vines off Finca Iscorta, hand-picked in fifteen-kilo boxes, pressed straight into new American oak for a month-long ferment with daily battonage — the lees stirred back through for weight — then two more months on wood before bottling. Honey, ripe apple, toast, a streak of banana. Textured, savoury, built with real Old-school structure.
