Why we love this Wine
A decade ago this corner of inland Sicily, 25km from Agrigento, was growing grain and olives β now it's clay, limestone and gypsum turned over to vine, and Giuseppe Cipolla is making some of the island's most talked-about reds. Mostly Nero d'Avola with a splash of Catarratto, destemmed, fermented on wild yeast in steel, short time on skins. Black tea tannins, licorice, plum, a dusty earthen finish that reads properly Sicilian. Young project, old soul.
