Kevin Judd spent years making Cloudy Bay famous before deciding Marlborough Sauvignon could do better. Greywacke is his answer. Most of the fruit ferments cool in stainless, but a portion goes to old oak for a wild-yeast ferment, building texture under all that aromatic lift. Passionfruit, capsicum, lemon pith, a savoury herbal edge. Richer and rounder than the Marlborough norm, with real length to back it up. This is what the category looks like when someone starts showing off.
