The Giovanni Rosso estate is one of Barolo's shining lights since 1890, but Davide Rosso's 2016 purchase of an old vineyard on the Northern slope of Mount Etna has opened up further opportunities for experimentation with indigenous varietals. The red blend bursts with life in the way that true Sicilian wines always do, drawing richness from the volcanic terroir. Sicilian sweetheart, Nerello Mascalese features in the blend; think wild strawberries and just the right sweet-sour balance.
