Why we love this Wine
Parents shouldn't have favourite children and winemakers shouldn't have favourite grapes. Granted, it's hard to go past Burgundy's world famous Chardonnays (and indeed growers may find them a more financially rewarding grape) but drinkers: overlook Aligoté to your own detriment. With 12 months lees ageing, this is a sterling example with fruit from two sites: 30-year-old vines in Santenay and 50-year-old vines in Maranges. Plump peaches on the nose, textural, saline and entirely appealing.
