Why we love this Wine
Cuvée Alexis is the family cuvée — Olivier Depardon's domaine has stood in Villié-Morgon since 1848, and this one's named for the son who's since joined him. Fruit comes off a tiny 1.4 hectare parcel of forty year old vines on clay and limestone, hand harvested, fully malo'd and raised entirely in stainless steel for precision over oak. Pear, citrus and white flowers, a tart but creamy finish. Beaujolais isn't just Gamay country.
