Why we love this Wine
Before Mencía was Spain's hottest grape, Pétalos was already making the case. Uncle and nephew Álvaro Palacios and Ricardo Pérez Palacios built this from old vines, some pushing ninety years, scattered across Bierzo's slate and schist, farmed organically and sourced from close to 180 smallholders. Fermented in large old oak, then eight months in barrel. Violets, crushed red berries, pepper and wild herb, chalky tannin running through. Bierzo's calling card.
