Cucielo is named after a cuckoo, and the whole thing is built around its migration — Scotland to the Congo basin and back, with a long detour through the Mediterranean every summer. Tracking its route from West Africa through Scotland and back down the length of Italy, picking up wormwood and gentian along with vanilla, dried fruits, citrus peel, and warm spices such as cinnamon and cloves as it goes. Made in Moncalieri, in Piedmont's vermouth heartland. Sweet up front, bitter on the way out. Pour over ice and watch it migrate from the glass.
