WHO and WHAT is Müller-Thurgau? Try once, remember 4ever. And inevitably, try again, because the ancient cultivar is back with a vengeance. Grown in Italy's Trentino-Alto Adige region (bordering Switzerland and Austria), 100% Müller-Thurgau fruit sees 25 days on skins for a very bueno pinky-orange hue. Says family custodian of Cantina Furlani, Matteo, the colour of the sunset flaming over the vineyards on the Vigolana plateau. Ooh. Ah. Think fully destemmed fruit, spontaneous fermentation and ageing 'sur lie' (with the lees). Shatteringly fresh, an absolute stonker for aperitivo hour. Juicy peaches, aromatic citrus, slightly tannic finish. Glug glug.
